The Bury New Road project is inviting people of all ages to join in a unique Shoot Your Own Heritage archive, creating via their smart phone video cameras two minute snapshots of their lives and loves to be preserved for future generations.
There will be an introductory session at Prestwich Library on Sunday 8th January for one hour between 10:30am and 11:30am, led by film maker Rafe Conn MA, who will be giving guidance on how to shoot a two minute epic. And there will be a follow up session at the Library on Sunday 15th January (10:30am-12:30pm) to edit and polish the results.
“We’re looking to capture real life on and around Bury New Road, so that future generations can get a glimpse of what’s going on around our neighbourhoods” says Stephen Kingston co-ordinator of the Bury New Road project “When you look at old photos, you tend to notice the cars, the fashions, the hair styles, the shops and buildings, even the adverts, so what might appear very ordinary now will wow someone in the future!”
Film maker Rafe Coon adds: “I will show participants how to apply professional film making techniques to create a two minute snapshot of their lives. All you will need is a smart phone, enthusiasm and that’s it! We’ll do the rest.”
The sessions at Prestwich Library are free. Just turn up on the day with your smart phone!
